Threads for Android 449.0.0.0.66

Threads 449.0.0.0.66 for Android is the current release of Meta's text-first social app, and you can download it free from Google Play. It is built by the Instagram team, so you sign in with your Instagram account and can bring your followers along. These answers cover what people usually ask before installing.

What is Threads?

Threads is a social networking and microblogging service operated by Meta Platforms. It launched on 5 July 2023 and went public the next day, and it quickly found its place as a home for short posts, quick opinions and conversations in the replies. On Android, the app opens to a feed that mixes people you follow with recommendations, and a tap on the pen icon starts a new post with text, photos, a short video or a link. Replies form threads under each post, which is where most of the discussion happens. Because it is tied to Instagram, a photographer, a small shop or a local journalist can reach the audience they already built there without starting from zero. For readers, it is a place to follow news, creators and friends in a lighter, text-based format than Instagram itself.
